Write a review for: Toshiba 2TB SATA 6GB/s 64MB 7200RPM 3.5" Hard Drive
Running on a 2 drive Win 8.1 Update 1 system, "Modern" (ha) interface bypassed.
I bought this drive a few months ago, to be the bulk app and game store to my main OS SSD. It is fast, relatively quiet, with games and apps alike running off it without problem and at a good speed. So good in fact I might treat myself again at Christmas. I'm actually wondering with this speed and performance why I spent a fortune on an SSD. Buy one!
I was looking for reasonable drive to put into my NAS4Free file server. It's not "design" to run 24/7, but I don't need one. My NAS is on every so often to backup my desktops and phones. At the moment I run 2x Toshiba 2TB as two of 6 drive matrix in RaidZ2 configuration. Both are working faultless after 3 months. Unfortunately, I had a bit of hiccup with my second drive as it came to me as a dead drive. What was added to this insult was that period I was waiting for replacement. DOA drive should be replaced ASAP and NOT even questioned. I had to chase it with phone calls, confirmations, RMAs... and even then... "Oh, no one authorised replacement...". Come on BT, you used to be my first point of call, but now I'm just wondering whether will it be my last? Conclusion: For what it is and price for it, it's a good deal. Short warranty (2 years) is most adequate for average usage, as I probably will replace it for bigger one after about 2 or 3 years. No HDD last forever...
