I wanted to even out the ratings of the review because the replacement drives which BT sent me performed perfectly. It took a bit of time for the replacement drives to reach me, but I suspect that BT took some care to make sure that I was a satisfied customer and that I was not going to be saddled with two more lemons. I have had the drives running 24/7 for well over a week now and they are flawless. I might well have been unlucky, or it might well be that BT cares enough about customer support to make sure that I was not left disappointed a second time. Either way, BT wins and Seagate ends up from both of my reviews as a 2.5 I am really happy with the drives and REALLY HAPPY with BT.
I was mightily disappointed by Seagate and massively impressed by BT so this review will centre on BT. I ordered two of these drives and both were DOA on arrival - this is not BT's fault. I have been buying Seagate drives (from BT mainly) for the past 15 years. I phoned up BT to have the drives replaced and they offered to have them collected. I am an invalid so I was happy about the offer. I sent a friend of mine to get money out of my bank and made sure I had change to pay for the postage. I was gobsmacked when the person from Parcelforce told me that the postage had been paid (by BT). You know who your friends are when things go wrong and BT has been exemplary in this regard. I had tested the drives on an A58, X58, Z87 and Z97 based systems and they were not recognised. They were dead. I explained the trouble-shooting I'd done and BT din't faff me off or mess me about. It was all about how to get the drives replaced with the least hassle to me. --HD, +++BT
