Write a review for: MSI Z270I GAMING PRO CARBON AC LGA1151 Intel Z270 DDR4 ATX
This is a really nice motherboard and I am yet to plumb the depths of it's potential, so I've only tentatively given it 4 stars at present. If this site allows, I will come back and uplift to 5 stars.
Value - I've rated as 5 stars as with the cashback deals on offer (assuming MSI pay out!) this mid-high range motherboard is terrific value.
Features - it supports the latest 7th gen chipset and has things like USB3.1 type C, dual LAN, m.2 nvme drives - these are the features I was most looking for. Also has Intel Optane (although it's early days for this technology).
I also like the black colour – the red MSI colours are not to my liking!
I have yet to choose a graphics card, so haven’t really pushed my system.
But so far, so good … no real negatives or issues.
This was for my first ITX build and also one I've done after good few years. I skipped the Z170 ITX boards in hope that the Z270 ones would be more refined due to lessons learnt from previous motherboard.
MSI have certainly done that with many positive changes including more fan connectors and digital PWM power design versus analogue.
The board has a perfect layout and fit in my chosen Fractal Nano S case. The case cut outs lined up nicely with the thoughtfully placed connectors for motherboard power, CPU power and also the fan headers. The motherboard and cpu connectors are fairly close together and the 3 fan headers right next to each other which allowed for running cables together in a visually tidy manner. The overall product rating currently is not full 5stars as the current available bios 1.3 is still not mature and requires refining. There are issues with 'auto volts' in the BIOS for the VCCIO and the SA (System Agent) volts being Very High. Bios needs fix.
