To be fair to BT this does what it says on the box, Some people are used to older different styles of phones so haven't found most of what it can do. Someone wrote they don't have intercom ... Well they do and its on one of the tab buttons. these phones are great, Yes they will make the person say who they are but once know it will allow they to directly call you ... WELL DONE BT thank you as I don't get those calls at night now that i really hated from sales people ... brilliant 5 stars
Great product. Easy to install. One niggle is that the manual doesn't show how to make an internal call between handsets. I had to refer to the BT8500 manual find out.
The Mobile Number from my LG Leon will not display BT have spent numerous hours of my time trying to correct the cause and to date they are unable.
The blue charging light is extremely bright and lights the room up in the dark not ideal to sleep with . Again BT are aware but nothing can be done except to unplug it and hope the batteries do not run down and wake one up with the bleeping.
Crackling being experienced at time. Not crisp clear.
Note that the range indoors may be far short of what they say- in our house it will not go 23 metres from base, which is substantially less than the "ideal" range of 50 metres. that is a major drawback as i cannot have a landline in my office.
The menu system is very odd. when you are familiar with the simplicity of mobile phones "tick box" simplicity it comes as a shock to have such limited information visible on the screen, so you have to scroll up and down, or across to find what you need. It is not intuitive.
It is cheap.
The saved list of contacts seems to be missleading at 200- i have insalled 12 conacts and the system says it is 11% full- that implies perhaps 100 contacts? I suspect that when you have more than one number for a contact (ie house and mobile) that counts as 2. Also there is a very limited number of options to add more numbers for a person- such as a car phone.
Overall it seems cheap and nasty but I hope it does a better job of blocking.
Sadly, I too have the random "power cut" problem, There is no power cut, so thi must be a design issue. It needs manual confirmation of the time after each cut and does not appear to work until this is done.
The call blocking is great, so is blacklisting, however I think there are too many functions most people will never need. How about a version with just call blocking and black listing? forget alarms, answerphone etc they are not needed. An option to lower the powr light brightness would be lovely at night too...
I've owned the phones for a few weeks now and, whilst the general functionality is good and they do block unwanted calls, they have a tendency to repeatedly call 'power cut' requiring the time and date to be reset. Needless to say, the handsets are fully charged and the power supply us continuous. Annoying glitch in an otherwise good product
Very disappointed Ipurchased this to replace our panasonic trio oneof which had a distorted speaker. Now discovered the 8600 does not have intercom....... its predecessor 8500 did! Do not purchase if you have a large house. No intercom no call handover etc eer. Very poor for a multiple handset system.
