the Asus RT-N66U looks good and works well. I've got good WIFI coverage in what was a problem location, well worth the money.
You get what you pay for.
You can stop looking now for your Wireless Router... Get the RT-N66U!
I've been an IT professional for 20 years and seen all manner of rubbish, but this unit does exactly what it promises... Simple...
Running it over a small office (20m x 10m), 2.4 & 5 with Guests additional Guests networks... Works extremely well, even with 20+ devices connected.
Easy to setup and stable... Very Happy...
I bought the Asus RT N66U together with a Draytek Vigor 120 modem to replace my Belkin N300 router. I had been suffering intermittent speed problems on my Ipad, smtp email timeouts, unstable VPN connections and you name it. I just had a hunch that a top quality router would sort some of this out. Well I was right. Every single problem has disappeared and my Ipad, which had been dropping to 0.17 mbps, now maintains a steady 6.2 mbps. Even minor things like Air Print now works. After a couple of weeks, overall stability and performance on my network is now rock solid. I couldn't be more delighted.
This is definately a case of you get more than you paid for.
I switched this for my old router, since then my son (who's room is in the opposite corner of the house from the router) gets a full 100% signal at the max speed his N speed wireless dongle can manage.
I plugged my multi-function printer in to one of the USB slots , installed the software on each PC and everyone on my local network can use it (scan and print) as though it's directly connected to their PC with little or no delay.
It has many many functions all of which can configured to meet what you need using an easy to use graphical interface instead of having to dig around in text boxes.
Parental control is a matter of selecting the device on a drop down list (as each device connects to the router it gets added to the list) and just selecting times that that device is allowed to access the internet in a graph.
Well worth the price , with more features than I can describe within the character limit here.
This is a question, not a review.
Does anyone have this running as an AP but still able to use the guest network (Internet only) function? I have Sky BB so have to use the ISP's provided router/modem. I've read some reviews that suggest the guest network function doesn't work if this unit is not hosting the internet connection directly.
I don't understand why an all-singing all-dancing product like this is offered for sale when the specification makes no mention that I can see of IPv6 support.
Does it support IPv6? If not it's already obsolete. The last blocks of IPv4 addresses were assigned months ago.
Would I buy one? Absolutely not!
