Write a review for: Asus MX299Q 29" Wide AH-IPS LED Silver/Black Multimedia Monitor
If you haven't seen an IPS monitor before you are going to be stunned by the wonderful glowing colours. The vibrant colours easily match a good plasma or CRT. The picture quality of this monitor is simply stunning. You'll notice how crisp the display is. Each pixel is very much sharper than a normal monitor. Overall the quality of the display is excellent. IPS monitors are slower than normal monitors, but this one is very fast for an IPS, and probably about the same or better than your existing monitor, so don't worry about that. The first thing I did was play a game, and didn't notice any adverse effects at all. The Asus is very bright! If you watch in a dark room you may actually find it too bright. The extra width really is great. I used to use two 24" monitors but even though the Asus is only 30% wider than one, it actually seems much, much wider, and I found immediately that I didn't need a second monitor.

Not For Everyone, But A Great Monitor
The first thing you need to know about this monitor is that it's VERY bright and there is a fair bit of bleed as a result. You can't turn the brightness down until all the bleed disappears. It just won't go down low enough. So, really, this monitor is not for the professional graphics type of person. It really is far more suited to multimedia. Especially games. Despite some saying it has a slow response time, it hasn't. It still rates as class one because of its zero input lag, which makes it just about the best ultra-widescreen for games.
Out of the box the monitor is pretty well adjusted, but the colour temperature is a little high.
Surprisingly I found there is enough desktop space to replace two 24" monitors. And the extra width is spectacular for games!
Most modern games do support the 2560x1080, and they do get the aspect right. Tera in this aspect is simply amazing.
It also comes with all the cables you will ever need.
In all, highly recommended for gamers.
